Offensive Player of the Week
Barret Ehgoetz, Niagara, Junior, Center, Kincardine, Ontario
Ehgoetz recorded two goals and four assists, accounting for six of Niagara’s eight goals, in a series sweep of Air Force, which gave the Purple Eagles sole possession of first place in the CHA. Two of his assists came in Friday’s 3-2 overtime win, including the lone assist on Chris Welch’s gamewinning goal. He scored twice in Saturday’s 5-2 win, tying the game at 2-2 with his eighth goal of the season and added the eventual game-winner early in the third period as Niagara overcame a two-goal deficit. Ehgoetz is now fifth nationally in point-per-game (1.64) and leads the league with nine goals and 18 points.
Other nominees: Mark Bastl, Findlay; Ryan Huddy, Bemidji State.

Defensive Player of the Week
Jeff VanNynatten, Niagara, Sophomore, Goalie, Stratford, Ontario
Emerging as Niagara’s number one goalie, VanNynatten was in goal for both games against Air Force, stopping 69 of 73 shots on the weekend. He matched his season high with 32 saves in Friday’s 3-2 overtime victory and came back 24 hours later to record a season-high 37 saves in Saturday’s 5-2 win, enabling his team to overcome a 2-0 deficit despite being outshot 39-28.
Other nominees: Marc Carlson, Wayne State; Will Hooper, Findlay; Grady Hunt, Bemidji State.

Rookie of the Week
Will Hooper, Findlay, Freshman, Goalie, Woodbridge, Ontario
Hooper has emerged as the Oilers number one goalie, having played in each of Findlay’s last seven games, allowing two or fewer goals in five of his last six appearances. Friday’s 17-save effort in Findlay’s 5-0 win over Canisius was his first career shutout and he followed that up with a 29-save performance in a 2-2 tie.
Other nominees: Jason Baclig, Wayne State; Billy Devoney, Air Force; Jeremy Hall, Niagara.
