Findlay junior forward Heidi Tallqvist and Mercyhurst freshman
defenseman Michelle Bondello were all honored by College Hockey
America for their play over the weekend.
Offensive Player of
the Week
Heidi Tallqvist, Findlay, Junior, Forward, Turku, Finland
The Oilers’ scoring leader last season, Tallqvist
had recorded just two points in four games this season before
leading Findlay to a weekend sweep at Quinnipiac. Tallqvist record
two goals and an assist in Friday’s
3-1 victory. She scored the game-winning goal in the contest,
was +2 and registered eight shots on goal. Saturday, she contributed
a goal and an assist in a 4-0 victory.

Anna VanderMarliere, Wayne State, Senior, Goalie, St. Clair
Shores, Mich.
In a split of two games at Colgate, VanderMarliere recorded
back-to-back 30-save performances, losing 3-2 in overtime,
Friday, before coming back with a 4-0 shutout victory, Saturday.
Friday, VanderMarliere stopped 23 of 24 shots through the game’s
first two periods, enabling her team to hold a 1-1 tie and
eventually grab a 2-1 lead. Saturday’s
shutout was her first of the season and eighth of her career.

Michelle Bonello, Mercyhurst, Freshman, Defense, Mississauga,
Ontario
Tied for third in the league in plus/minus rating, Bonello’s
strong defensive play helped Mercyhurst claim a sweep of its
two-game road series at Bemidji State. Bonello recorded a team-best
+5 rating on the weekend. She set up the game’s first goal
Friday and was on the ice for five of the team’s seven
even-strength goals in the contest.
