Offensive Player of the Week
Shane Saum, Air Force, Senior, Forward, Palmer, Alaska
Playing for the first time in eight years in front of his hometown
fans, Saum scored a goal and two
assists Friday in a 5-4 loss to Alaska-Anchorage. Despite being
held without a point in Saturday’s 2-0 win over
Miami, Saum was named to the Nye Frontier Classic all-tournament,
the second consecutive week in which
he’s been named to an all-tournament team.
Other nominees: Derek MacKay, Wayne State; Andrew Murray, Bemidji
State.
Defensive Player of the Week
Mike Polidor, Air Force, Senior, Goalie, Imperial, Pa.
Polidor proved what a difference a year makes in Saturday’s
2-0 win over Miami. A year after giving up
10 goals in a 12-1 loss to the Red Hawks, he turned aside 19
shots to record his first collegiate shutout against a
team which, just a week earlier, had scored eight goals in
a win over No. 6/7 Michigan. He also recorded 26
saves in Friday’s 5-4 loss to tournament host Alaska-Anchorage.
Other nominees: Matt Kelly, Wayne State; Layne Sedevie, Bemidji
State. Rookie of the Week
Luke Erickson, Bemidji State, Freshman, Forward, Roseau, Minn.
In his collegiate debut, Erickson scored his first career goal
in the Beavers’ 4-2 loss to Clarkson, becoming
the first BSU rookie since Andrew Murray in 2001 to score in
the team’s season-opener. In Saturday’s 1-1
tie, Erickson was named the game’s third star.
Other nominees: Jason Baclig, Wayne State, Theo Zacour, Air
Force. |
