University of Findlay forward Mark
Bastl earned CHA Offensive Player of the Week honors this week,
while Bemidji State University defenseman John Haider garnered
CHA Defensive Player of the Week accolades. Wayne
State University forward Derek MacKay was named CHA Rookie
of the Week, marking his third CHA honor. Bastl and Haider
are
first-time
award winners.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bastl, a 6-2, 195-pound sophomore from Villars, Switzerland,
paced the Oilers to a split at CHA regular season champion
Alabama-Huntsville last week. Bastl scored all four Findlay
goals in a 4-3 upset
over the Chargers on Friday and added
a powerplay goal in Saturday’s loss. All five of Bastl’s
goals this season came last weekend. DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Haider, a 5-10, 200-pound sophomore defenseman from Forest
Lake, Minn., tallied a three-point weekend vs. Niagara last
week and was part of a Beaver penalty-kill unit that held the
Purple Eagles scoreless on seven power plays. Three of Haider’s
five points this season came last week. ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
MacKay, a 6-1, 185-pound forward from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.,
had four points on three goals and one assist in WSU's home
sweep of Air Force. On Friday, he assisted on the first goal
of the
game. In Saturday's win, he recorded his first collegiate
hat trick which included the game-winning goal. |
