Niagara University forward Joe
Tallari earned CHA Offensive Player of the Week honors this
week, while University of Findlay netminder Jamie VandeSpyker
garnered CHA Defensive Player of the Week accolades. University
of Alabama-Huntsville
defenseman Jeremy Schreiber was named CHA Rookie of the Week,
marking his first CHA honor. Tallari and
VandeSpyker are three-time award winners.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF
THE WEEK
Tallari, a 5-11, 180-pound senior from Thunder Bay, Ontario,
paced the Purple Eagles to a series sweep over Wayne State
last week. Tallari scored the game-winning goal both nights,
including Friday’s overtime marker to give Niagara its
first-ever victory over WSU. For the weekend, he totaled three
goals and
three assists for a six-point effort. DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Vandespyker, a 6-1, 185-pound senior netminder from
Campellville,
Ontario, posted a .970 save percentage last week after stopping
65-of-67 shots vs. Air Force. He is 1-0-2 in his last three
outings
with a .95 goals against average. ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Schreiber, a 6-0, 200-pound defenseman from Medicina Hat, Alberta,
broke a five-game scoring drought with a three-point weekend
at Bemidji State, helping the first-place Chargers to a series
split. Schreiber is the nation’s top rookie scoring defenseman. Honorable
Mention Performance
Bemidji State University forward Jeff McGill scored two of
the three Beaver goals in Saturday’s 3-2 overtime win
vs. UAH, while BSU forward Andrew Murray tallied a three-point
weekend vs. the Chargers. Alabama-Huntsville forward Karlis
Zirnis tallied
three goals last week at Bemidji State. Wayne State rookie
Derek MacKay tallied a three-point weekend vs. Niagara. |
