of Alabama-Huntsville forward Steve Charlebois earned CHA
Offensive Player of the Week honors this week, while Niagara
University netminder Jeff VanNynatten garnered CHA Defensive
Player of the Week
accolades. Wayne State University freshman Derek Mackay was
named CHA
Rookie of the Week, marking his second straight CHA
honor. Charlebois is a first-time award winner and VanNynatten
earned his first weekly honor.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Charlebois, a 5-9, 175-pound senior from Carbon, Alberta,
helped the Chargers to a weekend sweep over Findlay by
scoring four
goals, including both game winners. He also added an assist
as Chargers upped their unbeaten streak to 11 games. DEFENSIVE
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
VanNynatten, a 6-1, 190-pound freshman
goaltender from Stratford, Ontario, earned two road victories
last week at Air Force. He stopped 61-of-64 Falcon shots
and two of the three goals allowed came on the power play. ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Mackay, a 6-1, 185-pound forward from Sault Ste. Marie,
Ont., recorded three assists, including helpers on both
game-winning
goals last week as the Warriors swept American International. Honorable
Mention Performance
Wayne State University senior Dustin Kingston scored three
goals last weekend and became the second Warrior to record
100 career points. Niagara senior Bernie Sigrist recorded
a five-point
series in a sweep at Air Force. Ala.-Huntsville
senior Jason Hawes dished out four assists last weekend. |
