Funk, Munroe, Mackay earn CHA men's weekly player honors

University of Alabama-Huntsville forward Mike Funk earned CHA Offensive Player of the Week honors this week, while teammate Scott Munroe garnered CHA Defensive Player of the Week accolades. Wayne State University freshman Derek Mackay was named CHA Rookie of the Week, marking his first CHA honor. Funk and Munroe each earned their second weekly award.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Funk, a 6-4, 225-pound junior from Newton, Manitoba, helped the Chargers to a weekend sweep over Fairfield by playing a hand in five of 16 UAH goals. Funk netted a goal and four assists in the series, while helping the Chargers up their unbeaten streak to nine games--second-best in the nation.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Munroe, a 6-2, 205-pound freshman goaltender from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, allowed a first-period, power-play goal to the Stags Friday, but closed out the game with 21 saves to improve to 6-2 on the year.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Mackay, a 6-1, 185-pound forward from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., scored the Warriors first goal both nights vs. Air Force and assisted on Dustin Kingston’s game-tying goal with four seconds remaining in the second period Sunday to knot the game at 2-2.

Honorable Mention Performance
Wayne State University senior Jack Redwood scored the game-tying goal vs. Air Force Saturday with 10 seconds remaining in regulation, helping the Warriors to a 2-2 overtime tie. University of Findlay junior goaltender Kevin Fines stopped 30-of-31 shots vs. Western Michigan after replacing Jamie VandeSpyker in the contest.
