| Niagara University forward Chris Sebastian
earned CHA Offensive Player of the Week honors this week,
while Bemidji State University defenseman Bryce Methven garnered
CHA Defensive Player of the Week accolades. Wayne State University
freshman Steve Kovalchik was named CHA Rookie of the Week,
marking his first CHA honor. Sebastian and Methven earned
CHA honors for the first time as well.
Offensive Player of
the Week
Sebastian, a 5-10, 185-pound senior from Burlington, Ontario,
helped the Purple Eagles earn three-of-four points in a CHA
series last week vs. Bemidji State. He tallied an assist
in Niagara's 3-2 win Friday, and played a hand in all three

Eagle goals in Saturday's 3-3 tie, including NU's first two
goals of the game. He also assisted on Niagara's third goal. Defensive Player of the Week
Methven, a 6-1, 210-pound junior from Mora, Minn., led
a Beaver defense that held the nation's leading goal
scorer (Joe Tallari)
to just one assist last week. Methven recorded an assist
in Friday's loss to Niagara and was a +2 for the series. Rookie
of the Week
Kovalchik, a 5-10, 180-pound defenseman from Riverview, Mich.,
recorded his fifth assist of the season on Wayne State's
second period goal to knot the game at 2-2 vs. Notre Dame.
The Irish
won 3-2 with a late third period goal. Honorable Mention Performance
Bemidji State University senior Marty Goulet had a three-point
weekend at Niagara last week, including the game-tying goal
in Saturday's game. BSU sophomore Andrew Murray recorded
a career high three assists in game two at Niagara. |
