Sebastian, Kovalchik, Methven earn CHA Player of the Week honors

Niagara University forward Chris Sebastian earned CHA Offensive Player of the Week honors this week, while Bemidji State University defenseman Bryce Methven garnered CHA Defensive Player of the Week accolades. Wayne State University freshman Steve Kovalchik was named CHA Rookie of the Week, marking his first CHA honor. Sebastian and Methven earned CHA honors for the first time as well.

Offensive Player of the Week
Sebastian, a 5-10, 185-pound senior from Burlington, Ontario, helped the Purple Eagles earn three-of-four points in a CHA series last week vs. Bemidji State. He tallied an assist in Niagara's 3-2 win Friday, and played a hand in all three Purple Eagle goals in Saturday's 3-3 tie, including NU's first two goals of the game. He also assisted on Niagara's third goal.

Defensive Player of the Week
Methven, a 6-1, 210-pound junior from Mora, Minn., led a Beaver defense that held the nation's leading goal scorer (Joe Tallari) to just one assist last week. Methven recorded an assist in Friday's loss to Niagara and was a +2 for the series.

Rookie of the Week
Kovalchik, a 5-10, 180-pound defenseman from Riverview, Mich., recorded his fifth assist of the season on Wayne State's second period goal to knot the game at 2-2 vs. Notre Dame. The Irish won 3-2 with a late third period goal.

Honorable Mention Performance
Bemidji State University senior Marty Goulet had a three-point weekend at Niagara last week, including the game-tying goal in Saturday's game. BSU sophomore Andrew Murray recorded a career high three assists in game two at Niagara.
