| Air Force Academy forward Andy Berg earned
CHA Offensive Player of the Week honors this week, while University
of Findlay defenseman Steve Traver garnered CHA Defensive
Player of the Week accolades. University of Alabama-Huntsville
freshman Scott Munroe was named CHA Rookie of the Week, marking
his first CHA honor. Berg earned CHA honors for the third
time in his career, while Traver is a first-time CHA award
winner.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Berg, a 6-0, 190-pound senior from Stillwater, Minn.,
helped the Falcons to a weekend split with Findlay by scoring
his second hat trick of the season in Sunday’s 6-2 victory.
He scored the first two goals of the game to erase a 2-0 deficit
to the Oilers and posted his third goal in the final period.
Berg also added an assist in the win and scored a goal in
Friday’s loss.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Traver, a 6-0, 185-pound senior from Dundas, Ontario,
tallied his first two goals of the season last week, scoring
in each game vs. Air Force as he helped the Oilers to a weekend
split. He scored one of Findlay’s four third-period
goals as the Oilers posted a 6-5 come-from-behind victory
on Friday. His goal Sunday gave the Oilers a 2-0 first period
lead.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Munroe, a 6-2, 205-pound freshman goaltender from
Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, recorded a victory over defending
CHA champion Wayne State in the first road conference start
of his career. Munroe gave up two early goals, but then settled
down to shutout the Warriors for the final 57-plus minutes
of the game. He recorded 31 saves in the win and now has a
2-0 record in the CHA.
Honorable Mention Performance
University of Findlay forward Chris Wyzgowski had
a goal and two assists vs. Air Force in Friday’s win,
including the gamewinning goal with :47 seconds remaining.
Bemidji State University defenseman Anders Olsson totaled
a goal and an assist in a weekend split at Clarkson. Wayne
State University senior Jason Durbin tallied two goals, including
the game winner in overtime, and two assists in Friday’s
win over Alabama-Huntsville. Niagara University forward Joe
Tallari scored two goals and an assist in a loss to Western
Michigan.
