Joel Bresciani earned CHA Offensive Player of the Week honors
this week, while Bemidji State University goaltender Grady
Hunt garnered CHA Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Bemidji State University freshman Ryan Huddy was named CHA
Rookie of the Week, marking his first CHA honor. Bresciani
earned CHA honors for the first time in his career, while
Hunt is a nine-time CHA award winner.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bresciani, a 6-0, 200-pound senior from Sherwood
Park, Alberta, helped the Chargers to a weekend sweep over
conference rival Air Force. He netted a natural hat trick
in Friday’s victory and added a goal in Saturday’s
win. Bresciani has five points this season.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hunt, a 5-9, 165-pound junior from Vernon, British Columbia,
limited defending CHA champion Wayne State to one goal as
the Beavers posted two victories over the Warriors. Hunt stopped
63-of-64 shots faced in the series for a .984 save percentage.
He had 28 saves in a 2-0 shutout Friday, marking his second
career shutout. He added 35 saves Saturday. Hunt leads the
nation in save percentage (.970) and goals against average
(0.96).
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Huddy, a 5-10, 180-pound freshman forward from Stony Plain,
Alberta, scored Bemidji State’s game-winning goal in
overtime to beat Wayne State 2-1 Saturday.
Honorable Mention Performance
Bemidji State University freshman forward Myles
Kuharski tallied a goal and an assist in the sweep
of Wayne State last week. University of Alabama-Huntsville
sophomore defenseman Doug Watkins had a goal
and two assists vs. Air Force last weekend. University of
Findlay senior forward Lee Arnold scored
a goal to send Saturday’s game vs. No. 13 Miami into
overtime. Arnold also recorded two assists in the series vs.
the Redhawks.
